About Me
Hi, I'm Jon Marie.
Family history has always been about more than names and dates for me. It’s about understanding the people, places, and stories that came before us, and finding meaningful ways to make sure those stories are not lost.
Over the years, I’ve served genealogy societies in several leadership roles, including President, 2nd Vice President for Membership, Trustee, and chair of multiple planning committees. I’ve also worked with genealogy societies, professional genealogists, and writers to help them strengthen their communities and share their work through social media.
That experience gives me a perspective from both sides. I understand the challenges organizations and researchers face, and I also understand how overwhelming social media can become when it feels like one more job added to an already full plate.
That’s why I created Genealogy & The Social Sphere: to make sharing family history, research, programs, and expertise online simpler, more purposeful, and easier to manage.
And when I’m not immersed in family history or social media, you’ll usually find me traveling, reading, kayaking, or enjoying some well-earned pool time.
My goal is simple: help you spend less time worrying about what to post and more time doing the genealogy work you love.
